Looking back at some of my posts they all used to be very digital graphic orientated but lately I’ve playing more with the practical side of things. I still do a fair bit of editing but it all tends to be photo enhancing of products… So in a minor effort to change this I’ve made this…
Made for a friend, who wanted a mini leaflet for his massage business. Have to say not bad for my first attempt at ‘pop art’ art. Found the lines especially challenging as the whole thing is made with lines. Then shading, I couldn’t get to look right with solid cartoon shades so I turned to my trusty blur tool and painted really roughly lines then blurred them, worked fabulously.
Then after I finished this I went straight back to resin. Here’s a quick pic of my workspace
Just to the right of the photo there is a three inch cubed space that I work. I joke (sorta), this is more of an assembly of the things I was going to resin minus the molds. In the end, I used half of what was pictured. The bottle caps were left, the sticker are being reserved for next time and the tray at the top is full of beads that have been taken from old broken jewellery that I did actually use.
That’s the pieces in the molds setting and drying. Not yet solid enough to be popped out yet but stay tuned for pops out tomorrow (Or knowing me next week…)! Im so excited about the green mold at the top, first time using it and I attempted to use a varity of colours that I had to wait to set before adding more colour to. Oooh I cant wait to see what they come out like!
Yeah, I’ve rediscovered the beauty that is deviantart, Uploaded some random bits of stock that I’ve had laying around for ages, still have a few more that I cannot find. I always seem to loose time when I start browsing the stock image section of deviantart. So many pretty images that I try and see if I can turn into something. Half the time I start something, get to a point that I am not happy with it or I cant get the light just the way I want it so I stop and save it for a later date. The amount of unfinished PSD I have laying around is rather frustrating. Even after cleaning out my files of old work, I have kept some of the ones where I can see where I want the image to go but I can quite make it go the way I want. I guess its good practice to keep tiding and editing, least I’m learning something.
I found the image of the ballet dancer (by Faestock) and just saw her glowing in a ballroom somewhere. The glow didnt quite come out as I wanted it but it wasnt far off so I think Im happy with it. I found the red of the outfit tricky to work with, I tried a fair few different way of trying to match the colour to the background but it didnt quite mesh until the final colour adjustments.
So yet again my attention has been diverted from this deightful blog… I have a good reason that I cannot yet share. After christmas I should be able to share, I’ve been working on a present which all I am going to say about it for now.
My Lastest little creation, with this I tried to move away from the standard grungy feel my graphics tend to lean towards. It kinda works, the first look its very pink and Kawaii, then you notice the mask…. Which adds a creepy feel. Couldn’t help myself. 😀
Okay so the bloggind challenge has been going well… Yeah I’ve had a busy month. Lots happening and changing, all for the good though.
Day Two Blogging Challenge : Something I love
Well I love a lot of things (or I treat them with indifference), but I do have a special place in my heart (and room) for Make up. Specifically Eye shadows and Nail Varnishes. For the Varnishes go have a look at my instagram because today I feel like chatting about the eyes stuff.
This is my little collection thus far, well its some of my collection there are a few bits an pieces scattered else where. It mainly consists of Barry M branded dusts. I find them much easy to get a smooth blend over the eye. The pressed powders get a bit messier because I prefer a brush to apply instead of the little pads so when I use the brush the pressed get blown everywhere.
At this point I would love to show off some mad skills with a stunning photo of my eyes make up but I havent got anything recent…. Its all so sad. Instead you will just have to take my word for it that I have a moderate skill. 😀
I started getting in to make up in general about 7 years ago, I never really used anything except eye shadows and that was mainly because I somehow stumbled on to a livejournal that was full of people posting stunning photos of their eye shadows. I tried so hard to emulate what I was looking at but never quite got it. I was just starting out so of course I couldnt do these fantastic designs but I tried. I even tried doing it on friends, more often than not it turned into a giant blur of colours more clown like than style icon. Eventually I picked up the basic skill of blending and proper application. It took time and patience and now I look back on some of my old photos and think ‘just no’. Again I’m not a Michelangelo at painting eyes but I can hold my own against most people nowadays. Next time I do something vaguely impressive I will have to post it somewhere.
Before I end this little topic, here’s a tip for longer lasting make up on your eyes at least. Before you apply the dust/powder rub some concealer over the eyes and into the skin so that its just a little damp. The dusts will cling to the concealer and not wear off as quickly.
Or there are now eye mouses, that on their own are not as vivid as they could be. But use them as a base and apply the dust over the mouse and again itll make the dust last far longer. I’ve used both these in the past and had my eye make up last all night with no touching up.
Any who on an other note, I’ve thrown together a few a couple posters. One for a work meeting / BBQ and the other for a little show Mum putting on for her work.
Both were put together fairly quickly but I am very pleased with them. The images are all google search images from the respective official sites. I had major fun playing with the font on the green one.
I know, I know I havent really updated in a while, I havent really done much to warrant an update to be honest. Worked on a few bits here and there but nothing seemed to be working out right. But now I have finished a lovely piece from some fab deviantart stock!
Three hours work, and I cheated a little by using a premade background but it allowed me to practice matching the colours of the image to the background so its all good. Lots of smokey effects used again which I seem to keep going back to.
I was working on a fire one, but that ones was just going the way I saw it my head so I will have to come back to that one. Once it’s done Ill show it off so keep your fingers crossed.
