A Jigglypuff Sample look

Lately I’ve been sampling the Cosplay world a little more. And it something I want to get more involved it. Unfortuneatly it is a very online base comunity because there are so many people from everywhere who are into it. And we all know how I am at maintaining an constant online presence. Its getting better though, well my ablity to respond to social medida is getting better if know you in real life… Baby steps okay? Im getting there….

Anyway, If you been here before you’ll know I did a bulbasaur cosplay last year. It was really basic but I was dammed proud of it. Unfortunately I didnt get any decent photos of it. Also something I will be working on when I get a bit more time. I’m much more a behind the camer type of gal, so geting photos of me is tricky.

This year I want to try and put together a Jigglypuff cosplay with a bit of a rockablity twist. If Im going to Pink, I need a bit of edge. So I’ve been playing with some make up looks and colours and thought why not share it.

So this where I’m thinking of going make up-wise. At the minute, as you can see, it so not finalised. i think its too pink and too loud over all.

The eyeshadow at the moment being too much. I think I need to switch that to a matte white. Most rocker looks Ive been checking out dont have much on the eyes besides eyeliner. So I think that needs to be simpler. Also think avoiding the smokey style is the way to go.

Moving on to the eyeliner, not sure if you can see it very well in the photo but its a standard cat eye with a second line going into the crease of the lid. Again this seems a little too subtle. So that needs to be lift to make it a bit more obvious. Its a new technique for me so a bit of practice and I think I can get it down.

The blush, I think is on point. I am not usually a blush person, in fact I wear it so rarely I had to purchase this one specifically for this look. Its a bit heavy but I was trying to make it look very pink and cutesy. Not a look I go for often.

Lastly the lips. The lips are also awesome. Most of the rockablity looks have very vivid lips so I think this works.

I’ve also been playing with the idea of pinking up my eyebrows. Though I cant that looking right at the minute. Give me time.

And before anything is said the wig isnt styled. That is my next part of the project, putting a victory roll or two in the hair. Hopefully I’ll have that done by my next post, at least I’ll have an updated Look by then. I might even be happy enough with the dress to show it off.

London MCM 2015

MCM banner
So I went to the MCM London on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. And its taken me two weeks to write this little piece. To say it was brilliant is a supreme understatement. The cosplays, the booths, the people it was brilliant. And that is all I can say about a three day weekend.
Ive already uploaded some of the photos to facebook, not the cosplay ones but the photos of people who I was there with. I was planning to edit the rest and upload them but there are quite a few photos so I think I might just upload them as they are o facebook and as I get through editing them add them here. I also realized that I never uploaded last years photos so I should get round to that too.

As for the con itself, Jamie Bamber and Edward James Olmos were there as was a panel with Steven Moffat all of which I missed because the cosplays were too amazing and I let myself get distracted. Plan for next year plan it with times and set alarms on phone! After all the info is listed online but isn’t the easiest to plan out on your phone.IMG_8183 Even though I missed a few things, I did have a good wonder down the stalls and saw lots of pretty cute items.
A couple of the guys we were with got their pictures taken and placed in the Adventure Time world. We even got a pic of us being attacked by a zombie at the walking dead stall.

Yes that me with the green ears, I was a bulbsaur, a dodgy bulbasaur but one none the less. I even got recognized by a couple of people and a few asked for a picture with me which I really didn’t expect. Does mean I will be working on my cosplay a fair bit more for next time. I wore the bulbasaur on the Friday, thinking that not many people would be around as this was my first time dressing up. IMG_8390I kinda rushed putting it on so it lacks makeup and hair but it will better next time round!
On the Saturday, I didn’t bother dressing up except for my venom tshirt, which an umbrella operative though was cool.
IMG_8393Then on Sunday, I kinda half arsed it in my Tardis dress. Besides who doesn’t rock a Tardis dress. the dress was put to shame a little when I guy in the coolest tardis suit asked in get a picture with him. He even had a top hat that just looked so sick.
And I met a Dalek! It spoke and glowed! It was just a tad to big to fit in my bag….

And of course I got myself a few goodies. I got the cutest bulbasaur with extended vines! I have named him backlash, he looks like a backlash doesn’t he? IMG_8402
I manage to pick up a few comics, the cutest pair of Umbreon earrings and a Spiderman voodoo keyring that now lives on my camera bag.

Oh there are a few photos in the gallery of the cosplayers, more will be added and a quick warning some of them are quite heavily edited, though I haven’t messed with the actual Cosplays just the backgrounds.

Bulbasaur Progress

I’m trying to put together a gijinka of bulbasaur, basically meaning a human version of the pokemon from the orginal 150. Below is the bulb I’ve made so far.
IMG_7018.JPG
So this is my progress on the bulbasaur bulb for the end of the month. Its going, still not sure if its going well. Its all in one piece and sealed up with padding and backpack straps, which I forgot to add when I was doing the seams so Ive have to attach them to the outside of the bulb. The shape is there when I’m not wearing it but not once Ive put the backpack on, so more modifying needs to happen. I’m thinking if I sew the edges of the bulb over each other then it’ll look more like layers and create a rounded shape more like bulbasaurs.
Ive also go the dress to paint yet spots/marks on and the ears to make but they should take too long once the bulb is sorted. I was going to use the same fabric as the bulb to create the bulbasaur markings on the dress but I ran out of fabric so I figured hey why not just paint them on, and if this costume goes completely pear shaped I have made an awesome bulbasaur bulb cushion that is really soft! More progress later when I’ve actually made more of it!

Geeks and Zombies

Two blogs in one day! Aren’t you a lucky reader? The last two weeks have been wonderfully busy for me. I went to MCM London ComiCon the other week and it was amazing! Emphasis on Amazing! Too be fair, I wasn’t that impressed with the merchandise section but then I think it was because I was hugely distracted my all the fantastic costumes that were floating around. In fact for the second day, we didn’t even bother going in to the expo just hung out outside and took pictures of the cosplayers. I was more than happy to do that all day.
Check out some of the pictures, please excuse my amature photography skills, I was far too distracted to be able to fully focus on the photo set up. I really dont feel like I did justice to half the outfits I saw. Every time I saw one amazing character, I’d blink and there would be another one going the other direction and I couldn’t see half as much as I wanted. Every time I turned around there would be another great cosplayer. There will be better shots next time, that I can guarantee.

The other fun even that happened was a Zombie night (actually a friends birthday), that one amused me for a good week before. Playing around with make up and I even got my hands on some liquid latex to make a couple of fake wounds. Ripped up an out fit and covered it in blood, nothing to fancy just an old pair of jeans and a pale t-shirt. Paled my face a little and added hollowing make up, then stuck a gaping wound on my face and arms, mussed my hair to a giant mess and done….

I really liked the look, the bouncer even called me scary. So result for the night. Though I will say I did notice a rather big difference between my make up and the more theatrical styles out in the club, in the dark my lost its impact so the lesson on the night was the darker it is the more you need. Eh. Still love it and had fun so all is good.
